5 essential items to bring when you go out on the water

Summer has arrived, now it’s time to inflate your board and go on an adventure! Before leaving, the Québec SUP team offers you 5 essential items to bring with you to make the most of your hike.

1. A waterproof bag

Going for a hike in a humid environment like a lake or river without a waterproof bag? No way! This type of bag allows you to bring your cell phone, money and snacks with you without risk, since it keeps them dry all day. In addition, the straps at the front of your SUP will allow you to store it easily, allowing you to paddle without having to carry a bag with you.

 2. A microfiber towel

In addition to having a more luxurious feel, microfiber towels are very popular in water sports, particularly because they dry very quickly. Better yet, the microfiber towel keeps well in a waterproof bag, even when wet, since it prevents moisture from clinging to it, thus avoiding bad odors.

3. A PFD

PFD” stands for Personal Flotation Device. In accordance with the law, there must be one PFD per person on board the boat. In order to have a safe day with complete peace of mind, it is essential to bring a flotation vest with you. Be careful, because the fines can be steep for people who do not comply with this law!

4. Snacks

What’s better to keep you energized all day than a good nutritious snack? The Quebec SUP team strongly advises you to bring small meals with you, in your waterproof bag, in order to perform well. A picnic break on the water will keep you safe and fun all day long. Don’t forget to pick up your trash and respect nature when you go hiking!

5. Paddle Clips

Paddle Retainer Clips provide a secure and convenient way to keep your paddle attached directly to your board. They are an easy and reliable way to free your hands while carrying your other gear. They are also perfect for quick stops on the water such as practicing yoga, relaxing or eating. With the clips you can be sure that your paddle will be secure.

6. A bottle of water

The most important thing not to forget: a bottle of water! Bring enough water when you go hiking, as the sun and physical activity can quickly cause dehydration. Hydrate before, during and after your hike to stay in shape throughout your adventure.
