Getting back on your paddle board: A simple technique in four steps
Step 1: Return to the board and grab the middle handle
When you find yourself in the water after a fall, the first step is to return to your board. Once close, firmly grip the middle handle of the board. This solid grip gives you optimal control during the ascent.
Step 2: Lay flat on the water to facilitate the ascent
To make the ascent even easier, lie flat on the water. This horizontal position reduces water resistance, making it easier to climb on the board. Make sure to keep your ankle strap securely attached during this phase to avoid losing your board.
Step 3: Climb by pushing with your legs and pulling with your arms
Begin the lift using a combined leg pushing and arm pulling motion. Use your leg strength to propel your body upward while simultaneously pulling with your arms on the board's handle. This technique will allow you to ascend efficiently and quickly.
Step 4: Straighten up for optimal stability
Once you reach the surface of the board, gradually straighten up to find a stable position. Make sure to center your weight in the middle of the board to avoid any imbalance. Take time to readjust before resuming your paddling.
